M-PAiSA
M-PAiSA is Vodafone's mobile money service in Fiji. Connecting it lets your customers pay for vouchers from their M-PAiSA wallet.
To set up M-PAiSA in Powerlynx, ensure you've selected Fiji under Config/System/Localization. The gateway only appears in the payment gateway list when your country is Fiji.
M-PAiSA settles in FJD only. The currency is not a field you fill in — Powerlynx takes it from your localization settings and refuses payments in any other currency.
Configuration
Open Config → Finance → Payment gateways and click the action button next to M-PAiSA.
You will need credentials from your Vodafone Fiji merchant onboarding. If you do not have them, contact Vodafone merchant support.
Fill in the following fields:
- Client ID — your M-PAiSA Business ID, issued by Vodafone when your merchant account is created.
- Client secret — the secret issued alongside it. Powerlynx also uses it to sign the handshake with M-PAiSA, so it must match exactly.
- Environment —
LiveorStaging. Leave this on Live unless Vodafone issued you separate staging credentials; staging requires its own merchant account and will not work with live credentials.
Pay attention to the Location filter — you can configure your M-PAiSA account as the default for the system (all locations use this account), or select a specific location and link the account only to that one.
Press Apply to save.
Enable Payment Gateway for a Location
The next crucial step is to enable M-PAiSA for a specific location. Navigate to Locations, select the desired location, and open the "Payment Gateways" tab. From there, enable M-PAiSA for this location.
If it's disabled, your clients will not have the option to pay with M-PAiSA.
Buying a voucher with M-PAiSA
When the customer chooses M-PAiSA at checkout, Powerlynx creates the order and sends them to Vodafone's own payment page, where they enter their wallet details and confirm.
Unlike some other mobile money gateways, Powerlynx does not ask the customer for a phone number beforehand — the number is entered on Vodafone's page as part of the payment itself.
TIP
A voucher is never issued on the strength of the customer's return to Powerlynx, and not on Vodafone's callback either — neither of those can be verified on its own. Powerlynx always confirms the payment by asking M-PAiSA for the transaction status. That means a payment still completes if the customer closes the browser on Vodafone's page.
Networking: Walled Garden
The payment prompt is delivered to the handset over the mobile network rather than through your Wi-Fi, but your hotspot still needs to let the Powerlynx pages themselves through.
